Green front garden in Bishopston
Welcoming and sustainable front garden
Front gardens are hardworking spaces, and this one was no exception. With space needed to store bikes, tools, bins and recycling, plus a brief to make the garden welcoming for people and good for biodiversity, there’s a lot to fit in! We built a bespoke green-roofed shed to store bikes and tools, used clever planting to screen unsightly bins and recycling, and packed this front garden full of plants that will look beautiful all year round, as well as providing food for insects and birds.
Eco-friendly upgrades:
Native shrubs added to provide food for birds
Non-native plants added, to make sure there’s something in flower all year round. Pollinators aren’t too fussy about whether something is native or not, as long as they can find food when they really need it.
Green roof slow rainwater runoff, and permeable surfaces to mitigate flooding.
