Sustainable family garden in Bishopston
Garden for kids, pets and nature
Gardens need to serve many purposes, especially when it’s home to kids, a cat and a very enthusiastic golden retriever. Luckily, hard-working gardens can still be sustainable. This one incorporates a trampoline and climbing frame for the kids, lawn for the dog, two seating areas, plus outdoor storage. And it still finds space for a pond and planting that looks great all year round. We maximised the planting areas by growing up the walls and over the pergola. Pots filled with herbs and an area for growing fruit make this multi-functional space even more inviting for the whole family.
Eco-friendly upgrades:
Shrubs chosen to encourage birds into the garden, providing food and shelter all year round.
Plants for pollinators - something is in bloom every month of the year.
Small pond with its very own toad house provides water for wildlife and a home for amphibians.
